DITTO – A JEWELLERY EXHIBITION
at The Fringe Arts on Kloof Street
The initial idea for this piece originates from my love of Lindy Sales’ Artwork, and this exhibition was the perfect opportunity for me to depict my link as a designer to the art world, whilst having the privilege to frame Lindy’s art in a significant neckpiece, echoing my thoughts on the artwork by creating a delicate handmade chain, which to me highlights the fragility of her artwork. Being able to create a place of safe keeping where one is able to wear an artwork is a passion of mine. I find it to be a wonderful means of integrating jewelry and art and aspire to continue to produce pieces which pursue my path of bridging the gap between the design and the art world.

At times, without knowledge of each other, artists and designers work in remarkably similar ways. It could be the colours, the shapes or even the emotive aspect of the work that creates this link.

In order to celebrate the serendipitous syngeries between the design and the artworld, we have asked eight of our jewellery designers to create works that discover their link to the artworld.
You are invited to join us for an exhibition featuring the outcome of their journey on
Friday, 4 May 2012, 17:00 to 20:00
at The Fringe on Kloof, 99b Kloof street
The exhibition will run until Saturday 25 May.
